Umoja is situated on Silonque Nature reserve, 8 km north of Phalaborwa, approx. 5 ½h drive from Johannesburg (500 km).

South Africa is a country that you can visit easily by rental car. The larger cities are often connected by a 4 lane highway and local roads are generally in good condition. Beware after the rainy season of the potholes (larger holes in the road), especially on the smaller roads. You can reach our house with a normal car although in rainy season the bushroad may prove to be a bit bumpy. 

The fastest route from Johannesburg is the highway via Polokwane and Tzaneen, a spectacular route of about 5 ½ hours. The alternative route is via Lydenburg/Dullstroom or Nelspruit/Hoedspruit, with a number of tourist attractions.
